DoloresHidalgo

Dolores Hidalgo, Cradle of National Independence, is known as the hometown of José Alfredo Jiménez and a key place in Mexican history. Here, days go by between the colorful nieve (ice cream) stands in the main square and the handicraft market, where you can find majolica pottery.

This town was also home to the priest Miguel Hidalgo, who on September 16, 1810, took up arms against the colonial government of New Spain. The Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de Dolores, where he issued his famous Grito (Cry of Independence), and the Casa del Diezmo, now the Museo Casa de Hidalgo, preserve important mementos of that era.
