Inaugurated on September 15, 1985, the museum has become a meeting point for those who wish to learn more about the independence movement. Here, you can appreciate a collection of objects and documents that are intimately related to this historical process, with special emphasis on the figure of Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, the leader of the independence movement.
The National Independence Museum is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. On Sundays, admission is free. General admission is $20 MXN, while students, teachers with valid ID and seniors can enter for only $10 MXN.
