Tourist Attractions

City Hall: The building was engineered by the mind of acclaimed architect, Luis Long. It was inaugurated in 1907, to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the city’s foundation. The facade is adorned with a two-story colonnade and crowned by a majestic clock atop.

San Francisco de Asís Parish: Construction of the parish commenced in 1694, but it would be completed 89 years later in 1783. Inside, four retables adorn the walls, with the main altarpiece dedicated to San Francisco de Asís. Interestingly, the bell tower was built in the 19th century, well after the parish was inaugurated.

Anillo de Hierro: Nowadays, this historic building houses the Municipal Historic Archive. Its origins trace back to 1920 when it first began operating as a clothing factory. Following 1942, the building would undergo a series of transformations, serving as a dance hall, a school, and eventually as a hat factory. In 2003, it finally became a public archive.

Callejuela 1ro de Mayo: This famous street is located in the downtown area of the city, just a few meters away from the main square. The origins of this street can be tracked back to 1920.

Camino Viejo: This road was once the critical link between León City and San Francisco del Rincón. True to its name, some of the trees alongside Camino Viejo—or Olden Road—are over one hundred years old. Recently refurbished, fully equipped open-air exercise areas have been installed along the road. It was formerly known as Calle Real de León.
