September arrives in Guanajuato with an agenda full of music, gastronomy, culture, nature, adventure, and traditions. If you are looking for an excuse to take a getaway and enjoy new destinations, this month you will find activities to create a plan with friends, as a couple, or as a family.

From an experience among vineyards to gastronomic festivals, concerts, sports activities and cultural events, different municipalities in the state are preparing proposals to enjoy Guanajuato throughout the month.

Here we share some of the events you can find during September so you can start planning your next visit.

September begins with wine, music and tradition

The first weekend of the month brings several options for enjoying Guanajuato.

On September 5, Dolores Hidalgo (Cradle of National Independence) will host the Grape Harvest Festival in Cuna de Tierra, an experience that will combine vineyard tours, tastings, gastronomy, and the traditional grape-picking activity. The day will also feature live music and the presentation of Moenia.

That same day, San Miguel de Allende will celebrate the 11th Grape Harvest Festival at Hacienda San José Lavista, where visitors can enjoy tastings, grape-pressing, gastronomy and music in an environment surrounded by architecture and landscapes.

If you prefer a different experience, Tarimoro will host the Presa del Cubo Festival 2026 on September 5 and 6. The program includes sports activities, a biker ride, live rock, an electronic festival, and the Noche de Dragones show, in addition to a gastronomic festival on Sunday.

And for those traveling with a craving for something very Mexican, San Francisco del Rincón will host the 8th Pambazo Festival, also on September 5 and 6. The Main Garden will become a meeting point to enjoy pambazos, snacks, music, and local traditions.

Music for all tastes

Music will also have a special place during September.

In León, the Candelabrum Metal Fest 2026 will arrive at the Velaria de la Feria on September 12 and 13, with a program dedicated to metal and the participation of various national and international bands.

There will also be space for contemporary music. The Sinfonietta MIQ will present part of its new season with proposals that combine contemporary musical creation and artists from Mexico and Italy. In León, the presentation will take place on September 4 at the Music School.

Taste, tradition and pride of Guanajuato

If there is one thing that characterizes Guanajuato, it is the opportunity to discover the identity of each municipality through its flavors.

On September 18, 19 and 20, Guanajuato Capital will host the Taco Festival, a gastronomic event that will take place at the Alhóndiga de Granaditas and will bring together local and national cuisine, music and various options for lovers of this classic Mexican culinary tradition.

To continue the gastronomic tour, on September 20, Cortazar will host the Caracheo Beer Festival, where there will be craft beer, gastronomy, and live music.

That same day, Coroneo will have a very special celebration with the Festival of the Rooster and the Pulque. In the Main Garden there will be natural and artisan-made pulque, a display of roosters, wind music, and traditional dances. Admission is free.

Adventures to discover other landscapes

September is also an opportunity to get out of the cities and experience the state's natural landscapes.

On September 13, Cuerámaro will host the Serrana Route of Independence, a proposal for those who enjoy mountain biking and outdoor challenges, with routes of 30K and 45K.

If you’re looking for a more relaxed experience, you can also take advantage of your visit to discover some of the different natural attractions that exist in the municipalities of Guanajuato and complement your tour with gastronomy, culture, and local activities.

The harvests continue throughout September

And if you’re a wine lover, September is one of the best times to visit Guanajuato.

The Grape Harvest Festivals in Guanajuato are part of a season that this year extends from August 1 to October 18, 2026. Unlike other destinations where the grape harvest is concentrated into a single celebration, in Guanajuato there is a calendar of individual experiences that take place in different vineyards in the state.

Vine harvests are an opportunity to get closer to the wine culture and to participate in activities related to the grape harvest, such as grape-picking, vineyard tours, tastings, food tastings, music and other experiences.

Guanajuato thus positions itself as one of the main wine-producing destinations in Mexico and currently ranks 4th in terms of wine production nationwide.

The celebrations we’ve shared here are just a few of the harvest festivals you’ll find during the season, so it’s worth checking the full calendar to discover all the experiences available.

An agenda to pack your bags

September shows that Guanajuato has many ways to be enjoyed. You can start the month by visiting a vineyard, continue with a gastronomic festival, attend a concert, discover the traditions of a municipality, or embark on an adventure amidst natural landscapes.

And the best part is that you don't need to wait for just one date to visit the state: throughout the month you'll find new reasons to open up new paths.

These are just some of the events that are part of the September agenda. The schedule may add new activities and proposals in different municipalities, so before you plan your trip, we invite you to check out our agenda.
