TEMPLO DEL CARMEN

This church was designed by the celebrated architect Fracisco Eduardo Tresguerras in the 19th century. It is a magnificent exemplar of neoclassical architecture, with its facade and main altar beautifully showcasing this style.

Celaya Municipal Museum and Arts Center

The building dates back to 1609, when it was inaugurated as a convent for the San Agustín order. Over time, it served various functions, including being used as a jail. Today, it stands as the headquarters of the Institute of Art and Culture of Celaya.

TEMPLO DE SAN FRANCISCO

Touristic Experiences

 

Ojo Seco Tour

In this tour, visitors will discover the Ojo Seco community. We will begin with a breakfast, followed by a workshop on how to prepare a ceremonial tortilla. These tortillas are adorned with natural pigments, creating intricate designs.

Later, members will be guided through the Cerro de la Gavia nature reserve, where they will have the opportunity to explore the landscape and climb the Cerro de la Gavia hill. After completing their ascent, members will be treated to a meal prepared by artisanal cooks. This experience will allow you to savor delicious traditional foods while taking in the panoramic view of the reserve.

Finally, the tour will end with a rag-doll crafting class, where participants will be able to create their own doll designs.

To take part in this experience, it is necessary to make a reservation in advance. A minimum of 10 people is required. The tour has a duration of 6 hours.

 

La Tradicional de Salgado

La Tradicional de Salgado is a candy factory that specializes in producing cajeta—Spanish for caramel sauce—and other Mexican candies. It has been delighting palates with these delectable treats since 1860.

The factory is open for visit with guided tours every day of the week from 10 a.m. to 3.p.m.

City Center Tour

This tour will take the group on an exploration journey of the main landmarks in Celaya’s city center. We will also visit one of the nearby factories that specialize in producing cajeta (caramel sauce), which is a staple of the local gastronomy.
