First Look Video

Let's begin this journey through unique municipal experiences captured on video.

Founded two centuries ago on an ancient Purepecha and Tarascan settlement, this charming city was an essential part of the Camino Real de Tierra Adentro and still preserves the echo of that cultural exchange.

As you stroll through its streets, let yourself be seduced by the magic of the “Los Cornudos” dance, an Otomí legacy of almost five centuries. The carved wooden masks, the pride of its artisans, narrate every step and every note of a ritual that connects the pre-Hispanic past with the vibrant present of the community.

Immerse yourself in its flavors: deep moles, gorditas and tamales cooked in clay pots and molcajetes, carefully transported in baskets that speak of tradition and affection. Every bite is an invitation to discover the authentic spirit of Apaseo el Alto.

You cannot leave without visiting its architectural jewels: the majestic Temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a replica of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, whose construction, begun in 1896, took half a century to complete. Cross the Calle Real Bridge, erected in 1890 over the Apaseo River, and marvel at the elegant El Arco Aqueduct, a silent witness of the last decade of the 19th century. Finally, contemplate the Temple of San Andrés Apóstol, erected between 1820 and 1880 in honor of the patron saint of the old San Andrés del Paso.

Apaseo el Alto -or Atlayahualco, “place of springs”- awaits you with its living history, its art in wood and its unique hospitality. Come and discover why every corner of this city is poetry, tradition and a warm embrace to the traveler. We are waiting for you with open arms!”
