The government of the people recognized the value and competitiveness of the restaurant sector, which is a fundamental part of the quality, innovation and hospitality that distinguish Guanajuato.
The Secretary of Tourism and Identity of the Government of the People held a strategic meeting with the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry of San Miguel de Allende, headed by its head, María Guadalupe Robles León, in order to present the bases of support, the new guidelines of the State Tourism Plan and the promotional strategies to be implemented during the coming year.
In this session, held under the impulse and support of the Government of the People headed by Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, the shared vision of strengthening the tourism-gastronomy chain as an economic, cultural and social engine for San Miguel de Allende and the entire Central Region was reaffirmed.
During the meeting, Secretary Lupita Robles León recognized the value and competitiveness of the restaurant sector, which “is a fundamental part of raising the quality, innovation and hospitality that distinguish Guanajuato as a world-class destination,” she said.
He also highlighted the leadership of San Miguel de Allende as the fourth most visited municipality in the state, with 1,559,000 visitors through September, and a key part of the tourist triad that, together with Dolores Hidalgo CIN and Guanajuato Capital, forms the central region, combining history, wine, gastronomy, heritage and a deeply alive cultural identity.
Robles León emphasized that the Secretariat is working ahead of time to make a strong start next year with the State Tourism Plan, a strategy that will promote communities, gastronomy, local products and the arrival of more visitors.
“Today we are living a great moment for gastronomy and for the restaurants of San Miguel de Allende: there is a growing demand, a visitor interested in Guanajuato wine, in the products of the region and in authentic experiences. We want to walk alongside you to take advantage of this window of opportunity.”
He also reiterated SECTURI's commitment to support the restaurant sector, recognizing it as “the heart of the tourist experience, the first door of welcome and one of the most powerful memories that visitors take with them from our state.
The meeting was attended by Francisco Aguirre Dávalos, President of CANIRAC San Miguel de Allende; Ramón Vélez Gutiérrez, President of the Guanajuato Grape and Wine Association; David Ayala Saucedo, General Director of Tourism Development of SECTURI; as well as representatives of the restaurant industry, wine producers, academia and regional partners.
