During the second preliminary held in one of Guanajuato's seven charms, 22 cooks participated.
Nuevo Chupícuaro hosted the second preliminary of the “14th Traditional Cuisine Encounter Guanajuato ¡Sí Sabe! 2026”; an event that solidifies itself as a valuable platform for promoting our State's gastronomy.
The wealth and diversity of endemic flavors sought after by the Government of the People, led by Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, has been addressed by the Secretariat of Tourism and Identity (SECTURI), collaborating on projects that foster interest in the traditional cuisine of Guanajuato's different regions.
During this second preliminary competition held in Nuevo Chupícuaro, Acámbaro, one of Guanajuato's seven Enchantments; 22 cooks from 13 municipalities participated: Acámbaro, Coroneo, Huanímaro, Jaral del Progreso, Jerécuaro, León, Moroleón, Romita, Salvatierra, Tarandacuao, Tarimoro, Valle de Santiago, and Yuriria.
This important event will take place in two fundamental stages: three regional preliminaries and the grand final, which will be held on May 30 and 31, 2026, in the municipality of Irapuato.
On May 3, 2026, the first preliminary event was held at El Encanto de Guanajuato in Cañada de Caracheo, within the municipality of Cortazar. Twenty-one cooks representing the municipalities of Abasolo, Apaseo el Grande, Apaseo el Alto, Celaya, Comonfort, Cortazar, Irapuato, Manuel Doblado, Pénjamo, Purísima del Rincón, Salamanca, San Francisco del Rincón, Santa Cruz de Juventino Rosas, and Silao de la Victoria participated in this event, making a total of 14 participating municipalities.
During the preliminary stages, representatives from Guanajuato's 46 municipalities actively participate, showcasing their gastronomic specialties and sharing their culinary traditions. The entries are evaluated by a judging panel tasked with selecting the most representative dish from each municipality, which will then advance to the grand finale.
Additionally, for the grand finale, a cook representing each participating municipality will take part, as well as exhibitors of beverages and spirits, and artisans from all over Guanajuato, thus strengthening the promotion of the state's culture, identity, and gastronomic traditions.
