- Three awards for Guanajuato and more than 600 business appointments finalized stood out at the 2026 Tianguis Turístico.
More than 20 tourist announcements were made, among which the Brussels Competition Awards Gala in San Miguel de Allende stands out.
With over 600 business appointments made, new flights on the horizon, and three awards won, Guanajuato concluded its participation in the 2026 Tourist Tianguis with measurable results that point to strengthening its position as a competitive destination nationally and internationally.
The Government of the People of Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, through the Ministry of Tourism and Identity (SECTURI), reported Guanajuato's successful participation in the 2026 Tianguis Turístico, in Acapulco, Guerrero; where the State also finalized more than 20 tourism announcements, highlighting: The Brussels Competition Awards Gala in San Miguel de Allende.
Within the country's largest tourism showcase, SECTURI developed an agenda that included the presentation of “Destino de Guanajuato”; brand presence with volumetric displays at Acapulco airport; a 248 m² pavilion at Mundo Imperial, and a delegation of 109 attendees from 13 destinations.
The destinations that participated in the Guanajuato Stand were: Guanajuato Capital, San Miguel de Allende, León, Dolores Hidalgo, Salvatierra, Yuriria, Jalpa de Cánovas, Mineral de Pozos, Comonfort, Celaya, Irapuato, San José Iturbide, and San Francisco del Rincón.
Additionally, four Hotel and Motel Associations (Guanajuato, Irapuato, León, and San Miguel de Allende) were present, as well as the integration of strategic products: romance tourism, tour operators, the Grape and Wine Association, and the Wine Route.
The brand activations present at Mundo Imperial were: Guanajuato hot air balloon and volumetric displays in the gastronomic area, in addition to a branded bus.
Regarding media coverage, 16 journalists from 14 state media outlets have been reported. These journalists disseminated information about the Guanajuato pavilion, which featured spaces to promote the identity of various regions of the state through: artisans (basketry, molcajetes, and hats), Celaya's paper mache art, explanation of ceremonial tortillas, wines from the Valley of Independence, ice cream from Dolores Hidalgo, tequilas, mezcals, craft beer, mojigangas, the Guanajuato capital estudiantina (a musical group), and the Irapuato folkloric ballet.

Among the achievements to highlight are the completion of over 600 business appointments and more than 20 announcements, notably the Awards Gala for the Brussels World Competition in San Miguel de Allende; as well as the opening of new flights for the Bajío region, the development of seven new tourist routes, and awards in three different categories and institutions.
The national tourism showcase witnessed the announcement of a direct flight from Puebla to Bajío International Airport, which will be active starting next June. This offering is in addition to the recently announced direct Guanajuato-Vancouver flight by Flair Airlines, which will begin on October 3rd of this year. Bajío Airport currently operates 21 domestic and international destinations and recorded over 3 million passengers in 2025.
It was during the agenda of the third day of the Tianguis Turístico 2026, when Guanajuato received three awards that highlight the cultural richness, the quality of its experiences, and the innovation of its tourist offering: Award for Best Cultural Festival for the International Cervantino Festival, by México Desconocido. Award for Innovation in a Tourist Product for Tierra Madre Hotel Boutique, by the Federal Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR). And award for Best Tourist Route for one of the seven new Tourist Routes presented by SECTURI, the Ruta Agustina de Yuriria, by Excelencias Turísticas.
