The state is consolidating its leadership as a wine-producing power and an international benchmark for wine tourism, and the event will be held in November of this year.

Mexico City, February 18, 2026.- Guanajuato opens new paths for Mexican wine and its international positioning. The Governor of the People, Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, announced in her networks the launch of the CMB Gala Internacional Guanajuato 2026, an unprecedented event that will bring together for the first time in the history of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles the best wines and spirits in the world in a single night on November 30 and December 1.
On behalf of the Governor of the State, the Secretary of Tourism and Identity, María Guadalupe Robles León, received the news and emphasized that this appointment confirms the strength of the Guanajuato wine sector and the strategic vision of the Government of the People to promote wine tourism as one of the pillars of the state's tourism development.
The designation as the founding venue for the CMB Gala International Guanajuato 2026 and 2027 confirms that Mexico and Guanajuato are ready to bring together “The Best of Wine in one Night”. For decades, the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles has established itself as one of the most influential wine and spirits competitions in the world, annually evaluating more than 15,000 products from over 55 countries.
“Today new paths are opening up, of identity and future for wine tourism in Guanajuato and Mexico, hand in hand with this incredible industry,” said Robles León.
Guanajuato wine is consolidating its position as one of the fastest growing segments in Mexico. Currently, the state is:
- 4th national wine producer
- 5th national producer of wine grapes
- It has 64 winemaking projects, 27 of which offer high-value tourism experiences.
- Produces more than 1.6 million bottles per year
- It has 130 labels on the market
- Cultivates more than 600 hectares
- Works with 21 types of grapes
- Generates an industry of more than 600 million pesos.
- Articulates more than 20 sectors in its value chain
- In addition, the wines of the Independencia Valley have won more than 450 national and international awards in recent years, strengthening the state's recognition in global markets.
As part of the state strategy with the vision of the Governor, Guanajuato consolidates the Independence Valley Wine Route, a wine tourism corridor that integrates vineyards, wineries, historic towns and cultural experiences where wine, history and national identity are intertwined.
The Harvest Festival has also become a strategic axis of wine tourism, celebrating wine culture as a living expression of the territory and generating economic and social benefits in each region.
Wine forms a central part of the eno-gastro-tourism strategy, articulating with traditional and contemporary gastronomy, mezcal and tequila with denomination of origin, and the hospitality of Guanajuato.
During FITUR 2026 in Madrid, Guanajuato's wine tourism activity was recognized by the Excelencias Group as a result of the coordinated work of the entire tourism value chain.
The Secretary thanked the President of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, Baudouin Havaux, as well as Carlos Borboa, Director of the Mexico Selection by Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, for trusting Guanajuato again, after the successful Concours Mondial de Bruxelles held in 2024 in León, the first edition held in the Americas.
The CMB Guanajuato International Gala will include a gala dinner paired with Guanajuato wines. Hyper exclusive tasting with the best wines of the world and an unprecedented international award ceremony.
This event strengthens Guanajuato's global positioning as a competitive wine destination with its own identity.

With this designation, Guanajuato reaffirms its leadership in the wine industry, consolidates its international projection and confirms that wine tourism is identity, economic development and future for the state.
