The state has five nominations for its tourism products, destinations, and experiences.
Guanajuato reaffirms its national tourism leadership by securing various nominations at the “Best of Mexico 2026” awards, organized by Mexico Desconocido magazine, one of the most important platforms for promoting cultural tourism in the country.
These nominations place the state at the center of the national tourism conversation, highlighting the diversity of its experiences, its cultural richness, and its capacity for innovation under the vision of “Guanajuato opens new paths,” driven by the Government of the People.
Guanajuato's nominations for “Best of Mexico 2026” are:

These distinctions reflect a solid and competitive tourism portfolio aligned with current traveler trends, and the results will be announced at the 50th edition of the Tianguis Turístico.
The Secretary of Tourism and Identity, María Guadalupe Robles León, highlighted that these results are a direct reflection of a comprehensive strategy driven by Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, focused on projecting the state with identity and a global vision.
“These nominations are the result of a clear strategy: to position Guanajuato with an identity in the world, open new paths, and generate real opportunities for our people,” assured the head of SECTURI.
He emphasized that each tourism promotion action is built upon the economic impact it can generate in communities and throughout the tourism value chain.
“Every decision we make in tourism is designed to generate more economy for our communities, for our cooks, artisans, guides, hoteliers, and all the people who live from tourism,” commented the Secretary.
He also emphasized that national recognition validates the direction of state tourism policy and strengthens the confidence of originating markets.
“Today Guanajuato is part of the national conversation because there is a solid tourism promotion strategy; we are showcasing our best and consolidating ourselves as a competitive and reliable destination,” said the head of SECTURI.
The “Lo Mejor de México” awards are organized by México Desconocido in conjunction with the Ministry of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, and they recognize the most outstanding destinations through a process that includes editorial evaluation, expert participation, and public voting.
This model allows us to identify experiences that truly connect with travelers, consolidating these awards as one of the country's leading tourism benchmarks.
The nominations strengthen Guanajuato's positioning as a comprehensive destination that combines history, culture, gastronomy, wellness, and unique experiences.
From the Route of Independence to the International Cervantes Festival, including gastronomic tourism and experiences in World Heritage cities, the state demonstrates its capacity to offer high-value tourist products.
