Guanajuato made its mark this Tuesday with its participation in Tianguis Turístico México 2026, where the recognition of Yuriria as the winner in the Magical Town category at the IV Magical Excellence Awards stood out.
The Magic Awards for Excellence, organized by Grupo Excelencias, are part of one of the most important platforms for the promotion of tourism, gastronomy, and culture in the Spanish-speaking world. Through a public voting process, these awards recognize destinations that manage to connect with travelers for their authenticity, cultural richness, and unique tourism offerings.
It was on April 8th that the Government of the People, led by Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, through the head of the Secretariat of Tourism and Identity (SECTURI), María Guadalupe Robles León, reaffirmed Guanajuato's tourism and cultural leadership by achieving these nominations in various categories for the 2026 Magical Treasures Awards. This is an international recognition that distinguishes destinations, experiences, and projects that stand out for their quality, innovation, and contribution to tourism in Ibero-America.
In this 2026 edition, Guanajuato stood out with multiple nominations that reflected the diversity of its tourist offerings:
- San Luis de la Paz, in the Wellness (Health and Wellness) category, with the experience of La Casa del Venado Azul, which stands out for its focus on holistic well-being and connection with nature.
- Guanajuato City, nominated as a City of Excellence for its historical and cultural richness, and its consolidation as one of the country's most emblematic destinations.
- Dolores Hidalgo Cradle of National Independence, with a double nomination: in the Culture category, through the International King Festival, and in Enology, highlighting its growing relevance in wine production.
- Comonfort, in the Gastronomy category, with the traditional ceremonial tortilla, a living symbol of the state's culinary heritage.
- Purísima del Rincón, in the Water and Botanical Heritage category, recognizing its natural wealth and its commitment to conservation.
- San Miguel de Allende, in Heritage and Architecture, reaffirming its international prestige as a heritage city and world-class destination.
- Salvatierra, in the category of Historical Heritage and Sustainable Cultural Tourism, for its invaluable architectural legacy and its promotion of responsible practices.
- Yuriria, in the Religion category, with the Augustinian Route, which highlights its history, spirituality, and conventual architecture.
These nominations not only represented recognition for the work done in each of the destinations, but also an opportunity to strengthen their positioning in national and international markets, attracting a profile of visitor interested in cultural, gastronomic, wellness, and sustainable tourism experiences.
The Government of the People, led by Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, through SECTURI, reaffirms Guanajuato's tourism and cultural leadership, opening new paths, projecting the best of its people, culture, and identity to the world, while simultaneously consolidating itself as one of Mexico's most complete and attractive destinations.
