Guanajuato consolidated its national wine tourism leadership and closes a successful harvest season where wine, identity and tradition accompanied the thousands of visitors in their experience of drinking wines from Guanajuato.
The season of Guanajuato 2025 Harvests concluded with great success, exceeding attendance expectations, reaffirming the state as a national reference in wine production and wine tourism.
During three months, more than 12,000 visitors participated in the 14 grape harvest festivals held in the municipalities of León, Comonfort, San Miguel de Allende, Dolores Hidalgo C.I.N., Silao and San Felipe, with an economic revenue of more than 11.6 million pesos, which represents a sustained growth compared to the previous year.
“Today we propose to strengthen the wine tourism routes, professionalize services -which is very important-, integrate the entire value chain, strengthen infrastructure, present tourism promotion actions and take another step towards the creation of an ecosystem for the development and promotion of wine tourism”; explained the Secretary of Tourism and Identity, María Guadalupe Robles León at the closing of the wine cycle.
He also emphasized that this growth is a reflection of the coordinated work between producers, authorities and tourism service providers.
“What I see today there is clearly enormous progress and enormous growth, because we in the background all this has to do with wine and I have seen projects on this trip that are world class. To continue building together this shared vision of Guanajuato as a tourist destination of excellence, because when we talk about wine, we talk about Guanajuato, about the land that works, that innovates, that shares its history with the world.”
Guanajuato consolidated its position in 2025 as the fourth largest wine producer in Mexico and fifth in wine grape production, with more than 1.6 million bottles per year, 130 labels and 62 wine projects, of which 27 have a consolidated tourism offer.
The state's wine industry generates more than 600 million pesos annually, involves 20 sectors of the production chain and has accumulated more than 450 national and international awards.
Among the most outstanding recognitions this year was the gold medal obtained by Viñedo San Miguel's Blend Reserva 2019 at the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA), the only one for Mexico in the 2025 edition of the competition held in London.
The Ministry of Tourism and Identity announced that it is already working on new projects to strengthen the Vendimias 2026, in order to diversify the tourist offer, professionalize the service and reinforce Guanajuato wine as an integral experience of cultural, gastronomic and sustainable tourism.
In addition, Guanajuato will host two international events that will consolidate its projection on the world wine map, the International Sommelier Day 2026 and the Spirits Selection by Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2027.
The 2025 season also left the Government of the People, headed by Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, in line, confirming that Guanajuato wine is synonymous with identity, quality and pride.
Thousands of visitors were able to see for themselves as they toured the vineyards, enjoyed tasting experiences, met the producers and celebrated the harvest in one of the country's most promising regions.
