From Mexico City, Guanajuato invites all of Mexico and the world to experience the identity, excitement, and magic of the International Balloon Festival, which is held every year in León.

From the country's largest city, Guanajuato extends an invitation to all Mexicans and foreigners to live an experience that begins by looking up at the sky, but that can become an opportunity to discover everything our state has to share.

For the Government of the People of Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo it is an honor that every November the International Balloon Festival (FIG) brings together thousands of families, visitors and dreamers who come from different parts of Mexico and the world to share the same emotion: looking up at the sky, being amazed and letting themselves be carried away by the magic of hundreds of balloons that transform the dawn into an unforgettable postcard.

The Secretary of Tourism and Identity of Guanajuato, María Guadalupe Robles León, on behalf of the Governor of the People, reported at a press conference that from November 13 to 16, the Parque Metropolitano in León will once again be a meeting point for Mexico and the world, with the participation of 200 balloons from 25 countries and 40 special-shape balloons, which will fill every dawn and the traditional Noches Mágicas (Magic Nights) with color.

The Secretary noted that close to 400,000 visitors are expected this year, establishing the FIG as one of the major international ballooning events and as one of the tourism experiences that distinguish Guanajuato.

FROM THE LEÓN SKY TO ALL OF GUANAJUATO

Robles León explained to the national press that the FIG also represents a gateway to a state where identity is lived in its streets, its flavors, its traditions, and, above all, in its people.

“That is why I proudly affirm that the International Balloon Festival is not just a tourist event. It is an expression of Guanajuato’s identity and an event that holds our state’s name high. Today I want to invite all Mexican families, from here in the capital and from every corner of our country, to join us from November 13 to 16”, said the Secretary.

The Secretary explained that our destinations include Guanajuato Capital and San Miguel de Allende, our two World Heritage Cities; in addition to our six Magical Towns (Comonfort, Dolores Hidalgo (Cradle of National Independence), Jalpa de Cánovas, Mineral de Pozos, Salvatierra and Yuriria); and our five archaeological zones (El Cóporo, Cañada de la Virgen, Plazuelas, Peralta and Arroyo Seco).

“Because when someone visits Guanajuato, we want them to take away more than just photographs. We want them to take away emotions, to take away living stories.”, said the Secretary.

AN EXPERIENCE FOR THE PEOPLE

During the presentation it was also announced that Viernes de la Gente (People’s Friday) is returning, an initiative that reflects the vision of the Governor of the People, Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, to bring large events closer to families.

And on Viernes de la Gente, the first day of the festival, admission will be free all day, allowing more people to enjoy this celebration, including the concert by Los Ángeles Azules.

GUANAJUATO, READY TO RECEIVE MEXICO AND THE WORLD

Tourism today represents one of the three main economic and social strengths of Guanajuato. In 2025 alone, the state received more than 23.8 million visitors, while tourism consolidated as the state’s third economic force, with more than 227,000 people employed in the sector.

“Behind those numbers there is something much more important. There are families that find tourism an opportunity to get ahead. That is why we promote events like the International Balloon Festival. Because they generate emotions, generate well-being and generate experiences”, insisted the Secretary.

A CALENDAR TO CONTINUE DISCOVERING GUANAJUATO

The International Balloon Festival is part of an agenda that keeps Guanajuato a meeting point for great experiences, such as:

  • Cervantino International Festival, until October 18th.
  • Day of the Dead celebrations in Guanajuato Capital and San Miguel de Allende, from October 28 to November 2.
  • Centennial of the Birth of the Composer of the People, José Alfredo Jiménez, in Dolores Hidalgo, on November 21 and 22.
  • Concours Mondial de Bruxelles International Gala, in San Miguel de Allende, on November 29 and 30.

Each celebration is an opportunity to discover a different part of Guanajuato and to encounter an identity that transforms, is shared, and remains alive.

“Because the FIG can be the starting point, but Guanajuato is a whole destination to discover. Guanajuato awaits you to experience its identity, to share its stories and to open new paths”, concluded the Secretary.

The Secretary of Tourism and Identity, who attended on behalf of Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo of the State of Guanajuato, was accompanied at the presidium by: Alejandra Gutiérrez Campos, Mayor of León; Oscar Abraham Rocha Moreno, President of the International Balloon Festival of León; Escandra Salim Alle, General Director of the International Balloon Festival of León; David Ayala Saucedo, Undersecretary of Identity and Tourism Development; María Fernanda Rodríguez González, Secretary for Economic Reactivation of León; Galilea Montijo, Official Ambassador of the International Balloon Festival 2026; Andrea Escalona, Official Ambassador of the International Balloon Festival 2026; and Jorge Darío Guerrero Carrasco, Director of Services of Mexico City, on behalf of Alejandra Frausto Guerrero, Secretary of Tourism of Mexico City.

The Government of the People reiterates its invitation to experience Guanajuato; to see the schedule, admission details and everything else about the International Balloon Festival, you are invited to visit the festival’s official channels.
