Guanajuato strengthened its tourism agenda with new air routes, collaboration with municipalities, and results at the 2026 Tianguis Turístico.

As part of the "Government of the People's" Tourism with Vision strategy, led by Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, the Guanajuato State Secretariat of Tourism and Identity (SECTURI) maintained an active agenda to promote the state through its identity, communities, tourist vocations, and the sector's value chain.

“We will continue working so that tourism reaches more communities, generates more opportunities, and continues to show the world what we are,” explained the Secretary of Tourism and Identity, María Guadalupe Robles León.

During the month of April, it was highlighted that Guanajuato's tourism is built with the participation of communities, businesswomen and businessmen, traditional cooks, artisans, guides, hoteliers, tour operators, municipalities, and service providers.

Strategic actions led by Governor Libia Dennise were also accompanied, including the promotion of the state, work with municipalities, the strengthening of Guanajuato's six Pueblos Mágicos (Magic Towns), and participation in projects that open new avenues for state tourism.

As part of this agenda, strengthening actions were promoted for destinations, “Encantos de Guanajuato,” and communities with a tourism vocation. The working tour with the six Magical Towns of the state also concluded: Dolores Hidalgo C.I.N., Mineral de Pozos, Comonfort, Salvatierra, Jalpa de Cánovas, and Yuriria; with the aim of supporting their permanence in the federal program and improving their tourism development.

Regarding connectivity, Guanajuato announced the Guanajuato-Vancouver flight, operated by Flair Airlines, which will begin on October 3, 2026.

Currently, Canada represents the sixth largest international market for Guanajuato, with 108,000 visitors and more than 260 million pesos in economic impact. The Guanajuato-Puebla flight, operated by Volaris with four weekly frequencies starting in June, was also announced; furthermore, the direct Bajío-Madrid flight project with Air Europa is continuing to advance.

The SECTUR also worked with the State Training Institute (IECA) to strengthen the professionalization of entrepreneurs, service providers, and communities, as part of the drive to boost the tourism value chain. Likewise, the inauguration of the C5 Room at Poliforum León was supported, which strengthens Distrito León MX as a strategic space for large-format congresses, conventions, and events.

At the national level, Secretary María Guadalupe Robles León was appointed regional vice president of the Central Zone of ASETUR, from where she will coordinate efforts with other states to promote regional tourism, communities, and the sector's value chain. This was one of the most significant moments of Guanajuato's participation in the 50th edition of the Tianguis Turístico de México in Acapulco, where the state had a delegation of 110 attendees and 13 destinations, including Guanajuato Capital, San Miguel de Allende, León, Dolores Hidalgo, Salvatierra, Yuriria, and San Francisco del Rincón.

In the Guanajuato pavilion at the Tianguis Turístico 2026, hotel associations, tour operators, representatives of romance tourism, the Grape and Wine Association, the Wine Route, and communities participated, sharing expressions of identity such as hats, molcajetes, basketry, papier-mâché, ceremonial tortillas, wines, ice cream, tequila, mezcal, craft beer, mojigangas, estudiantina, and folkloric ballet.

During the Tourist Fair, Guanajuato registered more than 600 business appointments, more than 20 announcements, new tourist routes, a gastronomic season, wine harvests, community tourism, social tourism, and products ready for commercialization. Additionally, it presented seven new tourist routes that integrate communities as part of the State's Community Tourism strategy.

Guanajuato's participation was also recognized with three distinctions: Best International Cultural Event for the International Cervantino Festival; Tourism Product Innovation Award for Hotel Tierra Madre, and Best New Tourist Route for the Agustina Route of Yuriria.

With these actions, the Government of the People, through the Secretariat of Tourism and Identity, reaffirms its coordinated work so that tourism reaches more communities, generates opportunities, and projects the identity of Guanajuato in Mexico and the world.
