The Secretariat of Tourism and Identity (SECTIRI) promotes workshops for community entrepreneurs that contribute to local development.
Based on the premises of Community Tourism, a priority objective of the "Government of the People" led by Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, the Secretary of Tourism and Identity, Lupita Robles León, presented recognitions to the participants of the workshops for community tourism entrepreneurs. These workshops began in Nuevo Chupícuaro, one of the seven "Encantos de Guanajuato" (Guanajuato Charms) located in Acámbaro, a municipality celebrating its 500th anniversary of founding this year.
The Undersecretariat of Identity and Tourist Development The Encantos de Guanajuato program has been structured, a strategy that comprehensively and transversally promotes the development of localities with high cultural, natural, and heritage value, gradually integrating them into the value chain. This project's primary objective is the development of communities and their people, to promote integrated actions aimed at local strengthening as protagonists of tourism development, as well as the conservation of cultural identity, the sustainable use of their resources, and the generation of direct economic benefits for the population.
With Guanajuato Charms, through the Tourist Entrepreneur program, SECTURI is carrying out an action aimed at strengthening the stakeholders that make up the value chain, with the objective of identifying, developing, or consolidating business ideas that contribute to enriching the visitor experience.
Therefore, seven training workshops were carried out in each of the seven "Encantos" (charms) of Guanajuato, providing training to 142 people from these communities, covering profiles such as: traditional cuisine, guided tours, handicrafts, lodging, theme parks, among others.
“Just 10 or 15 days ago, I had the opportunity to take the oath and become part of the committee for the organization of the 500th anniversary of this great municipality. And I was telling them that I wanted to come, that I was very eager to be here with you all, so I spoke with Undersecretary David (Ayala Saucedo), and this presentation of awards to all of you who were part of this first entrepreneurship workshop was organized,” said the secretary, who after presenting the awards attended the second session of the Municipal Commission for the Commemoration of the 500th Anniversary of the Legal Foundation of Acámbaro.
The workshops in Nuevo Chupícuaro, Acámbaro
The community of Nuevo Chupícuaro hosted on February 19th and April 21st, 30 participants in workshops focused on developing entrepreneurial capabilities for entrepreneurs and tourism service providers. These workshops aimed to identify, structure, and consolidate viable business ideas to diversify and enhance the visitor experience, thereby promoting competitiveness, tourism development, sustainability, and innovation in new tourism ventures.
As part of the content in the workshops: Charms of Guanajuato, the following was considered:
- Raise awareness about tourism as a tool for community development and the designation of Guanajuato Charms.
- Basic Tourist Glossary.
- Tourism culture and hospitality.
- Understand the tourism value chain and community roles.
- Introduce basic tools for community-based tourism business models.
Upcoming workshops
As part of the development of follow-up actions for entrepreneurs' business models, SECTUR has planned a training course on the topic of Community Tourism and Regionalization Basics, on May 27th, at the Fray Bernardo Padilla Community Museum.
