The Secretariat of Tourism and State Identity of Guanajuato (SECTURI) He received recognition from Transparency Unit of the Executive Power of the State of Guanajuato (UTAPE) for actions that turn public information into a tool for strengthening promotion, competitiveness and decision-making within the tourism industry.
The department headed by María Guadalupe Robles León was recognized for three practices of Socially Responsible Transparency: FITUR, the International Tourism Fair of Madrid, Spain; the Guanajuato State Tourism Observatory; and Guanajuato.mx, It opens new paths.
“Our Governor, Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, has asked us to build a People's Government that is transparent and puts information at the service of the people. In tourism, this also means generating open, useful, and reliable data so that our industry can make better decisions, attract investments, and continue growing.””, noted María Guadalupe Robles León about the recognitions.
One of these recognitions corresponds to Guanajuato’s participation in FITUR, one of the major international meetings of the tourism industry, which brings together destinations, companies, operators, agencies, organizations, and professionals from the sector every year in Madrid.
The state's presence in this showcase allows it to promote its offerings to international markets, generate business relationships, and position its destinations, experiences, and identity in front of strategic players in global tourism. Transparency regarding this participation also allows citizens to know how resources intended for international tourism promotion are used.
The second recognition corresponds to Tourism Observatory of the State of Guanajuato, one of the entity's main tourism intelligence tools. Its function is to measure, analyze and interpret the evolution of the sector through indicators that allow knowing the behavior of visitors, economic spillover, hotel occupancy, connectivity, market profiles and other fundamental elements for tourism planning.
This information not only serves the State Government. It also allows hotels, restaurants, service providers, event organizers, municipalities, investors, universities, and entrepreneurs to better understand market behavior and have information to guide investments, design products, adjust promotion strategies, and anticipate trends. The Observatory itself sets itself the mission of generating indicators that contribute to improving the sector’s competitiveness and supporting decision-making.
The OTEG also has studies, visitor profiles, municipal diagnostics, specialized publications, and a documentation center that transforms tourism information into knowledge available to the sector.
To these tools is added Guanajuato.mx, Open New Paths, a platform that brings together and projects the state's tourism offer and connects visitors with destinations, experiences, events, and products from the different regions of Guanajuato.
In addition, SECTURI He received the PDP UTAPE 2026 Personal Data Protection Badge after ensuring that 100% of his staff had been trained in this matter. The recognition highlights the institutional commitment to proper treatment and protection of personal data.
The recognitions were presented during the Interinstitutional Meeting of the Transparency Network of Liaison Units 2026, “Guanajuato: where transparency unites us and data is protected”, held on September 30 in the capital of Guanajuato.
For the Secretariat of Tourism and Identity, transparent international promotion, constantly measuring tourism activity and facilitating access to the destination’s offerings are part of a single vision: making information a tool that instills confidence, strengthens the industry, and enables tourism to continue opening new paths for Guanajuato.
