- The Government of the People's tourism continues to be a national and international reference in high-value experiences and destinations.
Guanajuato, Guanajuato, December 8, 2025.- Guanajuato consolidates its position as a national and international reference by having Guanajuato projects finalists in the Excellence in Tourism 2025 category, as a result of the coordinated work between the sector, the communities and the Ministry of Tourism and Identity, in a vision promoted by the Government of the People, headed by Governor Libia Dennise Muñoz Ledo, which prioritizes tourism development with identity, innovation and social benefit.
One of the finalist projects is the International Balloon Festival (FIG), an emblematic event that has positioned Guanajuato in the global scenario of event tourism.
FIG stands out for its ability to attract national and international tourism, generate significant economic spillover and project an innovative and familiar image of the destination. Its focus on safety, visitor experience, sustainability and linkage with the local community make it a benchmark for tourism organization and promotion, in addition to strengthening the sense of pride and identity among the people of Guanajuato.
Enoturismo en el Valle de la Independencia was also recognized as a finalist project for its contribution to the diversification of the state's tourism offer and regional development.
This initiative integrates wine production with cultural, historical and gastronomic experiences, promoting rural tourism and local consumption. The project promotes sustainable practices, the professionalization of producers and service providers, and the enhancement of the value of the territory and its identity, generating economic opportunities for the communities and consolidating Guanajuato as an emerging destination for wine tourism in Mexico.
In the same category, tourism excellence, Tierra Madre, located in Comonfort, Guanajuato, is a holistic wellness boutique hotel that integrates nature, ancient medicine and art as the core of the tourism experience.
This project stands out for its focus on wellness tourism, respect for the natural environment, the revaluation of traditional knowledge and the creation of conscious experiences that promote integral health, relaxation and spiritual connection, positioning Guanajuato as an innovative destination in wellness tourism and transformative experiences.
In the Gourmet Excellence category, the finalist project is the Endemic Festival 2025, a proposal that revalues Guanajuato's native ingredients by linking contemporary haute cuisine with local tradition.
This festival promotes the responsible use of endemic products, strengthens the local production chain and positions Guanajuato's gastronomy as a living, innovative and sustainable cultural expression, generating a dialogue between chefs, producers and communities.
Likewise, Guanajuato ¡Sí Sabe! 2025 is consolidating itself as a high-impact gastronomic season by promoting local products and culinary experiences in 20 municipalities in the state. This project fosters gastronomic tourism as a driver of economic and social development, promotes local consumption, gives visibility to cooks and producers, and strengthens the regional culinary identity, bringing the flavors of Guanajuato to national and international visitors.
These nominations reflect the commitment of the Ministry of Tourism and Identity of Guanajuato to strengthen strategic projects that increase the state's competitiveness and consolidate an inclusive and forward-looking tourism model, aligned with the principles of the Government of the People.
Public voting will be open until January 14, 2026, allowing people from different countries to vote for the finalist projects from Guanajuato.
