With the support of the Government of the People, Guanajuato is among the most awarded states in Mexico with 36 medals in total.

Guanajuato consolidated its position as one of the country's great winemaking powers with 36 medals for its wines in the Mexico Selection by CMB 2025.

The Government of the People, through the Secretariat of Tourism and Identity (SECTURI), celebrates the results obtained by the state's wine industry in consolidating itself as an enogastro-tourism destination under the leadership of Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo.

As part of the strategic boost to the sector, Guanajuato topped the national list of Great Gold Medals for wine, with 4 Guanajuato labels recognized with the highest award in the competition. In addition, the state ranks third nationally in the number of medals for wine -only behind Baja California (52) and Coahuila (47)- and fourth overall among the “2025 Winning States”, with 36 medals for wine, compared to other states and categories.

In this ninth edition of México Selection by CMB, the international jury awarded Silver, Gold and Grand Gold medals to wines and spirits from 17 Mexican wine-producing states. In wines, 120 Gold Medals and 57 Silver Medals were awarded, while in spirits 61 Gold Medals and 14 Silver Medals were awarded, in addition to distinctions in beer and mead. The competition was held from November 17 to 21, 2025 in the state of Chihuahua, under the organization of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, one of the most important global benchmarks for quality in wines and spirits.

In the wine category, Guanajuato obtained a total of 36 awards, distributed as follows: 4 Grand Gold Medals, 15 Gold Medals, 17 Silver Medals.

These results reflect the boost to the food and wine sector promoted by the Government of the People, positioning Guanajuato as a wine destination of national and international reference, where wine is integrated into the state's tourism, cultural and gastronomic offerings.

The 4 labels from Guanajuato recognized with Grand Gold Medal are, Lavista Cuvée Spéciale Espumoso Rosé 2020 - Bodegas San José Lavista SA de CV. Sabio 2023 - Tierra de Luz Hacienda Vinícola. Viñedo San Miguel Blend Reserva 2019 - Viñedo San Miguel. Canto de Sirenas Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva de la Familia 2022 - Viñedo Los Arcángeles.

These distinctions place Guanajuato at the head of the country in Grand Gold Medals for wine, confirming the quality of its vineyards, the maturity of its industry and the potential of its wine regions.

Mexico Selection by CMB is organized by the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, recognized as the main reference for quality wines and spirits in global markets.

The competition is distinguished by its international and multidisciplinary panel of judges: winemakers, sommeliers, specialized journalists, buyers, distillers, brewers and experts from the world of wine and spirits.

Also for having an evaluation methodology based on strictly blind tasting, which guarantees the total anonymity of the samples to ensure impartiality and objectivity.

As well as a system of control and verification of documents for each registered product, which guarantees the independence and transparency of the results.

Beyond a blind tasting, Mexico Selection by CMB seeks to foster dialogue and encounters between producers, consolidate itself as a reliable seal of quality for consumers and promote both the host region and local partners linked to the wine, spirits and beer industry.

The results obtained by Guanajuato in Chihuahua 2025 are a reflection of the joint work between producers, winemakers, oenologists and the State Government, whose Ministry of Tourism and Identity promotes the development of wine and food as a strategic axis of tourism promotion.

The Government of the People maintains its commitment to strengthen the value chain around wine, from the vineyard and production to specialized tourism, wine tourism experiences and the international projection of Guanajuato wines.

With these 36 medals -including 4 Grand Gold Medals- Guanajuato confirms that its wine is on a par with the best in the country and the world, and that food and wine tourism is today one of the great strengths of the state within the strategy of promoting Tourism and Identity of the Government of the People.
