The Government of the People begins a work tour with the municipal governments of the six Magical Towns, to jointly implement the Plan to Strengthen the State's Magical Towns.
Silao, Guanajuato, February 13, 2026 - Guanajuato maintains the designation of its six Magical Towns, after the national evaluation carried out in 2025 to the 177 Magical Towns of the country, as part of the National Strategy of Magical Towns, promoted by the Government of Mexico through the Ministry of Tourism.
The six Magical Towns of Guanajuato - Jalpa de Cánovas (Purísima del Rincón), Mineral de Pozos (San Luis de la Paz), Yuriria, Salvatierra, Comonfort and Dolores Hidalgo Cuna de la Independencia Nacional - were part of the quantitative and qualitative file review process, complying with the criteria established at the federal level to maintain this distinction.
As a follow-up to this evaluation and with the objective of strengthening the tourism performance of these towns, the Government of the People led by Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo and the Secretary of Tourism and Identity of the State of Guanajuato (SECTURI) began a work tour with the municipal governments of the six Magical Towns, to jointly implement the Plan to Strengthen the Magical Towns of the State.
This work is carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, through the General Directorate of Social Management of Destinations, and is part of the National Strategy for the Strengthening of Magical Towns (ENFPM).
The strengthening plans are structured in five guiding axes, aligned with both the federal strategy and the State Tourism Program of the Government of the People 2025-2030:
Axis I. Planning and Sustainable Tourism Development
Axis II. Investment, Infrastructure and Equipment
Axis III. Training, Professionalization and Quality
Axis IV. Integral Promotion and Publicity
Axis V. Marketing
Timely intervention, supported by these pillars, will make it possible to consolidate more competitive, orderly and sustainable Magical Towns, with direct benefits for their local communities.
Since the beginning of the Government of the People, Guanajuato has promoted a fundamental change in its tourism policy, placing identity at the center of development.
This approach is the guiding thread of the State Tourism Program, which seeks to strengthen the magical towns and developing municipalities in their tourist vocation, and also to ensure that tourism generates economy, but also pride, belonging and balanced development in the communities and especially in the Magical Towns.
Under this vision, the Magical Towns of Guanajuato are consolidated as living spaces of identity, where tourism is linked to history, culture, traditions and community life.
The state strategy is committed to authentic, sustainable and socially meaningful experiences, in line with a global trend that values closeness to communities and a real experience of the destinations.
Thus, Guanajuato reaffirms a modern public policy that supports destinations, generates participation, strengthens the tourism production chain and confirms that this industry is synonymous with shared prosperity, identity and future for the entire state, with the Magical Towns as one of its fundamental pillars.
