Mineralde Pozos
An enigmatic Magical Town of Chichimeca origin, it flourished during the Viceroyalty and the Porfiriato thanks to its rich mining activity. Since the 1590s, furnaces such as those of Santa Brigida were built to extract gold, silver and mercury, becoming a tourist attraction along with other haciendas and mines, such as Cinco Señores.
Named Ciudad Porfirio Díaz in 1897, Pozos modernized its infrastructure with the arrival of the railroad and electricity. Its architectural heritage includes the Parroquia de San Pedro Apóstol and the former Escuela Modelo.

Its Magic:
Located in the middle of the semi-desert, you will be fascinated by the mesquite-covered landscape of Pozos. The charm left by its mining past -first during the Viceroyalty and then in the times of Porfirio Díaz- conquers those who come to discover the Pueblo Mágico. You can ride a bicycle among the ruins or just look at them, the truth is that their presence still fills with amazement those who pass by them.

The Reason:
The ruins of its mines
- By the end of the 19th century, more than 360 mining concessions were registered.
- The history of Pozos is linked to the richness of its soil, exploited from the 16th century to the beginning of the 20th century.
- Here lie the remains of Cinco Señores, one of the largest mines in the area.
- Thanks to Santa Brígida, Pozos was one of the most important mining centers in the area.
- During the second mining boom, the following warehouses were established: Fábricas de Francia, El Palacio de Cristal, Fábricas de París, El Vesubio and La Fama (this one still stands on a corner of Jardín Juárez).
