From cultural and musical events to traditional festivals that preserve the essence of our communities, this summer you'll find hundreds of reasons to travel the state and forge new paths.
Experience the magic of the Wax Festival in Cortazar
One of the most iconic events of the season is the traditional Octava de Corpus Christi, better known as the Fiesta de la Cera, in Cortazar.
For several days, the streets of the historic center are filled with color, music, and devotion thanks to the impressive processions organized by local guilds, whose members carry monumental figures and candles handcrafted from flaked wax. Some of these pieces are over two meters tall and represent one of the most spectacular expressions of Guanajuato’s folk art.
The celebration also features traditional dances, wind instrument music, fireworks, local cuisine, concerts, and family-friendly activities, making Cortazar a must-see destination in June.
Let yourself be carried away by the rhythm of the International Blues Festival in Mineral de Pozos
If live music is your thing, the Mineral de Pozos International Blues Festival is a must-see.
On June 12th and 13th, the historic Pueblo Mágico transforms into a grand stage to welcome musicians and blues lovers from different parts of the country. The event takes place in the emblematic Antiguo Abasto, an open-air venue surrounded by the mining charm that characterizes Mineral de Pozos.
Besides enjoying great concerts, you can tour the old mining haciendas, visit galleries, discover artisan shops, and experience the bohemian atmosphere that makes this Magical Town so unique.
Discover artisanal talent in San José Iturbide
Another must-do experience is the National Paper Mache Congress, a celebration that brings together creativity, tradition, and Mexican popular culture.
During the event, the streets of San José Iturbide come alive with parades of monumental figures, alebrijes, artisan exhibitions, and cultural activities for the whole family.
As you stroll along the Main Garden’s tourist walkway, you can sample traditional snacks, buy local handicrafts, and try the traditional “nieve de pasta.” If you’re looking for adventure, nearby you’ll find El Elíseo Park, which is perfect for hiking amid stunning natural landscapes.

And this is just the beginning...
