The Silao Fair 2026 will be held from July 17 to August 2 as part of the Santiago Apóstol festivities.
On behalf of the Governor of the People, Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, the Secretary of Tourism and Identity, Lupita Robles León, led the inauguration of the Silao 2026 Fair, one of the municipality's most representative celebrations, which brings together tradition, culture, entertainment, and opportunities to strengthen the local economy.
During the opening ceremony, the head of the Secretariat of Tourism and Identity (SECTURI) highlighted that the Silao 2026 Fair represents much more than a popular celebration, as it constitutes a space for family coexistence, preservation of traditions, and the generation of opportunities for merchants, artisans, producers, entrepreneurs, artists, ranchers, and service providers.
“Every visitor who arrives activates the local economy. A meal, a purchase, a night's stay, or a visit to a tourist attraction turns into income for families. That is the social meaning that tourism has for the Government of the People,” expressed the Secretary.
The Silao Fair 2026, which is part of the festivities in honor of Santiago Apóstol, will offer 17 days of artistic, cultural, sports, recreational, commercial, and livestock activities for residents and visitors.
The Secretary emphasized that, since the Abre Nuevos Caminos strategy, the Government of the People promotes tourism that generates well-being for communities, strengthens identity, and promotes the economic development of municipalities.
Likewise, he invited visitors to take advantage of their stay to visit Silao's main tourist attractions, such as Cerro del Cubilete and Cristo Rey, the José and Tomás Chávez Morado Museum, Guanajuato Bicentennial Park, its gastronomy, the historic center, and the communities of the municipality.
The Secretary also highlighted that Silao has a solid tourism infrastructure consisting of 113 establishments, including restaurants, travel agencies, transportation companies, venues, and various services that enhance the experience of those who visit the destination.
According to figures from the Secretariat of Tourism and Identity, from January to May 2026, the municipality received 487,511 visitors, who generated an economic impact exceeding 794 million pesos, reflecting the positive impact of tourism on the local economy.
During the event, the participation of the 78 representatives from communities and neighborhoods was also recognized. They are part of this edition of the fair and contribute to preserving the traditions that distinguish Silao.
Finally, the Secretary reiterated the commitment of the Government of the People to continue promoting actions that strengthen tourism as a tool for social and economic development, promoting competitive destinations that generate direct benefits for Guanajuato families.
