The construction of the Templo de la Compañía began on August 6, 1747 with the support of the people and authorities. The work was initially directed by Fray José de la Cruz and later by the architect Felipe de Ureña. Its construction implied a great investment and effort, including the construction of a dam. On January 6, 1764, the cross was placed on its imposing dome, and the temple was solemnly dedicated on November 8, 1765.
