Leon, Gto. - A few days before the start of the 150th edition of the Leon State Fair, El Solareon was presented, a monumental structure that will be located in the heart of the fairgrounds and promises to become the new emblematic image of the celebration of the 450th anniversary of the founding of the city.
The centerpiece is a figure of the lion -the emblem of the city- that will function as a moving canvas: audiovisual mapping synchronized with music and voiceover will be projected on its surface to offer a visual journey through the identity, memory and evolution of León. Each projection was designed as a story fragmented into short scenes, with their own visual and sound language, connecting past and present in an immersive experience.
Six scenes, six moments of the city
The show was constructed in six thematic blocks that combine images, textures and poetic sounds. They will address, among other motifs, the origins of the settlement (particles of light and organic forms that symbolize the birth of the local spirit); the foundation, shown through colonial motifs and patterns inspired by talavera; and Independence, with an intense palette that evokes collective strength. There will also be tributes to industrial transformation -with metaphors of steel and fire-, to contemporary urban life and, finally, a visual transfiguration in which the lion fragments and recomposes itself into a «beast of light» that closes the narrative with a powerful and minimalist image. The blocks include evocative titles such as “Soul of Metal”, “The Look of Fire”, “The Roar”, “The Transformation” and “The Celebration”.
Each scene will last approximately one to two minutes and will be accompanied by short voiceovers that reinforce the symbolic content of the montage.
Programming and presentation format
The screenings will be repeated several times each evening, according to the announced schedule: there will be screenings at 17:00 (Leon Dormido), 18:00 (Despertar del León), 18:30 (450 Años), 19:00 (El Ciclo), 19:30 (Despertar del León), 20:00 (450 Años) and 20:30 (El Ciclo), with a musical closing at 20:37 by a DJ. The format seeks to alternate short and forceful sequences that allow visitors to enjoy the show without having to stay for long hours at a single point.
A new attraction for the fair
With El Solareón, the organization of the León State Fair is committed to adding a scenic element that functions both as a public work of art and as a nighttime tourist attraction. Its combination of technology, historical narrative and music aims to offer locals and visitors a different way of approaching urban history: through moving images that celebrate 450 years of León's identity.
