The municipality of Uriangato is preparing to receive national and international visitors for the Tenth International Meeting of Alfombristas, one of the most recognized expressions of ephemeral art worldwide, which will take place from October 2 to 6.
This event, which combines tradition, creativity and devotion, will count with the participation of invited countries such as Spain, Colombia, Italy, Panama, El Salvador and South Korea. States of the Republic such as Michoacán and Yucatan and local delegations, who will join together to elaborate the Monumental Carpet in honor of San Miguel Arcángel, patron saint of the municipality. The program includes the installation of the Guanajuato Caravan, an international forum, parades, musical shows and the solemn mass that frames the religious festivity.
For generations, Uriangato has kept alive the tradition of making carpets and rugs from sawdust and flowers, transforming its streets into canvases that transmit identity and community pride. Today, this practice transcends borders and places the municipality as a reference in ephemeral art and large-scale cultural tourism.
The Ministry of Tourism and Identity of the State of Guanajuato has played a key role in the promotion of this event, promoting its projection beyond national borders. Thanks to these actions, the cultural richness of Uriangato and Guanajuato is positioned in the eyes of visitors from other nations, strengthening the state's identity as a reference for cultural tourism in Mexico.
With the expected attendance of delegations from more than nine countries and visitors from 20 Mexican states, the Encounter not only strengthens international ties, but also projects Guanajuato as a unique destination, rich in traditions and hospitality.
Uriangato is dressed in color, art and tradition, projecting the cultural richness of Guanajuato to the world.
