As part of the strategic vision of the Government of the People, headed by Governor Libia Dennise, through the Secretary of Tourism and Identity Lupita Robles León, the state of Guanajuato continues to strengthen the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) segment, consolidating itself as one of the main strategic destinations in Mexico for the meetings and events industry of national and international stature.
The Secretariat of Tourism and Identity of the State of Guanajuato promotes a modern, competitive and identity-based tourism policy that recognizes meeting tourism as a key driver for economic development, investment attraction, job creation and the international projection of the state.
In this context, the state of Guanajuato will host the FIEXPO Workshop & Technical Visit 2026, one of the most relevant meetings of the MICE industry in Latin America, which will come to the municipality of León.
The FIEXPO Workshop & Technical Visit, organized by FIEXPO Exhibitions Group, is a high-level event that promotes the professionalization and strategic development of the meetings industry in the region. For the 2026 edition, León, Guanajuato, will be the host destination, with an estimated date of March 17-20, which represents a strategic opportunity to strengthen the state's positioning in the international meetings, incentives and corporate events market.
This workshop is distinguished by offering immersive experiences that connect participants with the essence of the host destination, integrating local identity, culture and infrastructure in an agenda designed to generate real, high-impact business.
Each edition brings together highly qualified international buyers and specialized suppliers, generating an environment conducive to the creation of partnerships and concrete opportunities for the local tourism ecosystem.
One of the central themes of the event is its specialized academic program, developed in collaboration with ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association), which includes training sessions given by ICCA's Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean. This training strengthens the capabilities of all members of the destination's value chain, aligning Guanajuato with global standards and trends in the MICE industry.
In terms of scope, the FIEXPO Workshop & Technical Visit includes the participation of 40 local exhibitors, 40 carefully selected international buyers and more than 800 business meetings, which guarantees a tangible and measurable return for the host destinations. The buyers are decision-makers from international associations, incentive houses and corporate meeting and event planners, selected under rigorous criteria to ensure high conversion potential.
Guanajuato has a successful track record in holding this type of meeting. In 2023, the FIEXPO Workshop & Technical Visit was held in Guanajuato Capital, while in 2024 it was held in Dolores Hidalgo and San Miguel de Allende, with the participation of hosted buyers from various Latin American countries and Guanajuato suppliers from different municipalities. These exercises demonstrated the state's capacity to host high-level events, as well as the strength of its infrastructure, services and local talent.
Under the leadership of Governor Libia Dennise, Guanajuato is promoting a clear strategy to position the state's six MICE destinations (León, Silao, Guanajuato Capital, San Miguel de Allende, Irapuato and Celaya) as competitive, reliable and with identity, capable of attracting international events that trigger economic spillovers and direct benefits for the people.
