The government of the people motivates to maintain the cultural identity of our native peoples and communities in the participation of this Guinness World Record.

Guanajuato took an active and leading role in the world's largest embroidery and textile exhibition.

A nationwide initiative that integrated the artisan talent of the 32 states and was officially certified by Guinness World Records as the largest sample of embroidery in the world.

The event was held at the Los Pinos Cultural Complex, a consolidated space for Mexico's living heritage and cultural expressions. The exhibition brought together 3,106 certified pieces, made by more than 200 artisans from all over the country, surpassing the required minimum of 2,000 works and meeting the criteria for works of art established by the international organization.

Guanajuato's participation was distinguished by its commitment to the preservation of ancestral traditions, the valuation of manual labor and the state's cultural-tourist projection, in line with the vision of the Government of the People, led by Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, which promotes public policies to dignify artisan work, strengthen identity and promote community tourism.

This action was developed in coordination with the Government of Mexico, through joint work between the Ministries of Tourism and Culture, reaffirming that tourism is also identity, memory and living community.

Each piece - measuring 15 x 15 centimeters - has a history, a territory and a technique passed down from generation to generation. As a whole, the works make up a large tapestry that portrays the cultural diversity of the country; in Guanajuato, for example, symbolisms originating from different cultures were used.

The exhibition also concentrates Maya embroidery in Yucatán, visible in huipiles with floral motifs and counted stitch. Geometric and symbolic designs from Zapotec, Mixe and Chinantec peoples of Oaxaca. Scenes of daily life in the embroideries of Tenango, Hidalgo, and community and memory representations in Chiapas and Michoacán, among many other regions.

Mexico has more than 340 linguistic variants, which are also reflected in its textiles, making embroidery one of the oldest and most significant cultural expressions in the country.

The Guinness World Records certification makes this cultural and tourist exhibition, capable of generating international media coverage, global conversation and a new attraction for national and foreign visitors.

A Guinness record is not only observed, it is visited, experienced and recommended, strengthening the country's brand and positioning Mexico -and states like Guanajuato- as innovative and culturally alive destinations.

Mexico officially joined the Guinness family, recognizing the effort, passion and legacy of artisan hands and Guanajuato celebrates this achievement as part of a strategy of identity and tourism with vision, aligned with the federal government, which recognizes textile art not as past, but as present and future.

The Government of the People reaffirms its commitment to the communities that, stitch by stitch, continue to tell the story of Mexico to the world.

Embroiderers from Guanajuato participate in the Guinness World Record for the largest embroidery exhibition in the world.
