The Fountain of Identity: An Icon of Irapuato

Located in the heart of Plaza Fundadores in Irapuato, the Fountain of Identity is a symbol of the city with over 30 years of history.

This work of art was installed during the remodeling of the plaza in 1984 and has been a meeting point for locals and visitors ever since.

The fountain, created by the sculptor Luis Aragón, is composed of three pieces. The most outstanding, located in the center of the plaza, is nine meters high, four meters thick and weighs more than twenty tons. Its design, with curves and hollows, represents the fusion of cultures and modern Irapuato.

In addition, the other two sculptures flank the Temple of Our Lady of Solitude, symbolizing the dual identity of the region: one representing the American culture and the other the European. This artistic ensemble not only embellishes the plaza, but also invites families to enjoy, share and capture memorable moments in this emblematic place.

Ramón Barreto 42 Street, Col. Centro, 36500 Irapuato, Gto.
