The venue, designed by Guanajuato architect Salvador Zermeño Méndez, is part of the Purísima Plaza, an urban complex inaugurated in 2018 that integrates, in addition to the theater, the headquarters of the Virtual University of the State of Guanajuato, the Multimodal Transportation Center, a commercial area and open spaces with fountains and sculptural sets, adding one more space for the coexistence of Purimenses in the center of the city.

This stage began its artistic activities on July 18, 2019. Configured as an Italian-style theater, the building has 570 seats, distributed in three sections, with a generous distance between rows, to ensure the greatest comfort to its visitors.

The Teatro de la Ciudad has a forum of 231 square meters, equipped with a complete stage with 32 rods and the most modern solutions in audio, lighting and video, which allows it to receive a wide spectrum of scenic and musical activities with the best conditions of appreciation for the public: from one-man shows to orchestral and ballet ensembles.
