Description:
A Space with History
Formerly known as Los Hornos, the Plazuela de San Fernando is characterized by its beauty and tranquility. Historically, the place was full of vegetation, with trees and planters that made it an oasis within the city. In the late 30s and early 40s, the area underwent a restructuring project that resulted in the demolition of a school that previously occupied the esplanade, making way for the plaza we know today.
The design of the plaza's cobblestones is the work of the renowned visual artist José Chávez Morado, who left his mark with geometric patterns in the form of meanders that adorn the ground and give it a unique character.
A Vibrant Cultural Center
The San Fernando Square is not only a beautiful place but also an epicenter of cultural activity. During the International Cervantes Festival, the square transforms into a stage for world-class performances, attracting artists and visitors from all over the globe. Throughout the year, various artistic, cultural, gastronomic, and commercial activities take place, making it a dynamic and vibrant spot.
Surrounded by cafes and restaurants, many of which have terraces with views of the square, enjoying a meal or a coffee here becomes a memorable experience. The tranquility of the place, in contrast to the hustle and bustle of other squares, invites visitors to relax and enjoy the bohemian atmosphere that characterizes San Fernando.
A Corner of Peace in Guanajuato
Despite being in the very center of the city, Plazuela de San Fernando offers a peaceful atmosphere, far from the hustle and bustle of more crowded places like Plaza de la Paz or Jardín Unión. Here, you won't find mariachis or norteña music, but it's common to hear a troubadour in some of the bars at night, creating a magical and nostalgic ambiance that is irresistible to romantics and art lovers.
✨ Don't miss the opportunity to visit the Plazuela de San Fernando. This charming corner offers you a journey through time and culture, and it's the perfect place to enjoy the essence of Guanajuato. Let yourself be captivated by its beauty and history! 🍃🌼🎨
