If you are looking for an experience that combines history, culture and nature, the archaeological site of Peralta is a must on your tour of Guanajuato. This site is a true treasure that connects us with the ancient civilizations that inhabited El Bajío, and its monumental architecture represents one of the greatest expressions of the region's constructive creativity.

The architectural morphology of Peralta is fascinating. Six of the eight distinctive features of mound and sunken patio architecture can be identified here, making this a unique site of its kind. Although the ethnic affiliation of its ancient inhabitants remains a mystery, it is known that during the Early Classic, between 300 and 750 A.D., these human groups cultivated the land in terraces, taking advantage of the slopes of the hills and the floods of the Lerma River to plant on the plain.

How to get to Peralta?

Visiting this historic gem is easy. If you are in Abasolo, take the paved road to the east of the city. On the way, you will pass through the rancherías of San Isidro, La Peña and Rancho Seco, until you reach the archaeological zone after approximately 13 km. If you are in Irapuato, take Federal Highway No. 90 and take the crossroads to Pueblo Nuevo at kilometer 14. From there, continue in the direction of Huanímaro, and after 4 km, you will find the entrance to Rancho San José de Peralta. One kilometer after passing the soccer field and the police booth, you are just one step away from history!

Explore the living history of Peralta. Pack your backpack and venture out to discover one of Guanajuato's most fascinating archaeological treasures. In Peralta, history comes alive among ancient structures and breathtaking landscapes. Every corner holds secrets of the past waiting to be explored.
