El Cóporo
This important pre-Hispanic settlement, inhabited between 500 and 900 A.D., is located on the western foothills of the Sierra de Santa Barbara and near the community of San Jose del Torreon, in the present municipality of Ocampo, northeast of the state of Guanajuato, on the ancient northern border of Mesoamerica.

How to get there:
From León, take the highway to San Felipe (highway 87) until you reach the San Felipe/Ocampo junction. Continue towards Ocampo. When you reach Ibarra (at the police station), turn right and take the main road through the community. Continue until you reach the Cabras/El Torreon junction. Turn left (towards El Torreón). The visitor's center of the archaeological zone will be located 4 kilometers ahead.
From Ocampo, take the highway to Leon. Approximately 13 kilometers from the municipal seat you will find the turnoff to El Torreon. There turn left and continue until you reach the visitor's center of the archaeological zone, which is located 6 kilometers ahead.
