Romita’s Municipal Fair
Every year from December 1 to 15, the people of Romita celebrate the patron saint of Mexico, the Virgin of Guadalupe. The Feria de Romita is a three-hundred-year-old tradition that consists of music festivals, traditional dance performances, religious processions, fireworks, and more. It’s a celebration of Romita’s Catholic faith, gastronomy and culture.
The festivities extend to the nine neighborhoods that make up the municipality —also known as cuarteles or barrios. Each barrio has its own patron saint and church. During the Feria de Romita, every neighborhood organizes its own patronal festivities with dances, music, food, and carnival rides.
Romita’s municipal fair is a joyful expression of its religious devotion, and one of the largest festivals of its kind in Mexico!
