San Fernando Square

A great spot to take a break, sit down at a small restaurant or coffee shop and admire the bohemian nature of life in Guanajuato city.

This square formerly belonged to the Hacienda San Franciso de Cervera and it’s looked upon as the quintessence of local architecture. The cobblestone paving was designed by José Chávez Morado, a renowned Mexican visual artist.

Every year San Fernando Square hosts a wide range of events presented by guest nations of the Festival Internacional Cervantino. Enjoy Guanajuato’s cuisine in a bohemian ambiance!

Not far from San Fernando square you can find a small alley called ‘Callejón Del Beso’ or ‘Kiss Alley’. This is one of the most romantic and famous spots in the city, it is also alleged to be the stage of a tragic love story. Take your significant other to the alley, find out all about the tale and maybe even dare to re-enact the famous kiss!
