The name of Jerécuaro comes from the Purépecha, and means “Place like nest”.

Here you can visit the haciendas that surround this beautiful place or if you prefer you can enjoy the nature or admire the “Cristo de la Misericordia” a catholic monument, from anywhere in the city.

A must to visit is the Benito Juárez Monument, the Monument to Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, the Ignacio Zaragoza Monument, La Hacienda de Sabanila and el Paseo de los Sabino.

Its main craft piece is pottery.

An attraction of the city is the Parroquia De San Miguel Arcángel, where a monumental figure in honor of San Miguel Arcángel stands out in the center of the parish gardens.
